Nappy #2

I had another go at nappy-making, and I feel that my endeavours were much more successful this time. I did all the things I said I would:

1. I found a different pattern. This time I tried the Wee Weka side snap pocket nappy. The Wee Weka patterns are much less confusing than the Cloth Revolution one – in fact I didn’t find it confusing at all (although this being my second attempt probably meant I knew what I was doing a bit better). This free pattern is in size S-M, which I optimistically made up in the hope that it would be big enough for my large, tall one year old. Having seen the finished nappy I have my doubts – but I’m pretty happy with it anyway. I know some smaller babies who might be able to make use of it!

2. Poppers. I like poppers on nappies because they’re harder for the baby to undo and they don’t go all fuzzy and break off in the wash (usually…) – although of course they are less adjustable so it’s harder to get the perfect fit. On the whole I think velcro is better for little babies and poppers once they get bigger.

3. I think I “did it better” this time. I didn’t make any silly mistakes (at least, not ones I’ve noticed so far!) and the resulting product looks like a usable nappy. Yay! I suspect this is in large part because I found my elastic :)

I’ll try it on Asher in the morning and let you know how it goes!
